How to Invite Your Friends to Pinterest

One of the best parts of any social network is interacting with all of your friends. Pinterest is relatively new and is still gaining popularity, so all of your friends may not necessarily have their own accounts. Pinterest allows you to use your e-mail and social network contacts from a variety of different services to invite your friends to create their own accounts on the rising social network. You can accomplish this by following just a few steps using tools that are present on your main Pinterest account page.

Step 1

Click the “Username” button in the upper right corner of your main Pinterest homepage. Instead of literally saying the word “Username,” the label on the button will be your own first name. Click the “Invite Friends” button in the drop down menu to continue.

Step 2

If you know the e-mail addresses of some friends that you’d like to invite to Pinterest, enter those e-mail addresses into the boxes on screen at this time. You can send Pinterest invites in waves of four at a time. Compose a personal message to the specified friends in the box at the bottom of the screen. Click the red button labeled “Send Invites” to send each of those specified friends a new invitation e-mail, complete with the personal message you composed.

Step 3

Click the “Facebook” button on the left side of the screen to invite friends to Pinterest using your Facebook contacts. You can click on the names of friends in the window that appears to automatically send out invitations. You can also search for a friend by name, similar to the way you would do so if you were actually logged in to your Facebook profile.

Step 4

Click the “Gmail” button on the left side of the screen to invite friends to Pinterest using your Google Gmail account. Click the blue button labeled “Find Friends from Gmail” on the page that loads to start browsing through your Gmail contacts list for people you want to invite to the Pinterest service. Select the name of a person to send him a personalized Pinterest invitation.

Step 5

Click the button labeled “Yahoo!” on the left side of the screen to invite people from your Yahoo e-mail contacts list to the Pinterest service. The page that loads will operate identically to the one that were loaded in the “Gmail” step.

How to Publish Your Pinterest Activity to Your Facebook Timeline

Most people have accounts with a few different social networking sites. These accounts don’t always have to operate completely independently of one another. The social network Pinterest, for example, allows you to automatically post anything that you do to your Facebook account’s main news feed. Friends on that particular service can then see what you’ve been up to, even if they don’t have Pinterest accounts of their own. You can set up this account linking option directly from your main Pinterest account page.

Step 1

Load your main Pinterest account profile page in your Internet browser of choice.

Step 2

Click on your “Account” button at the top of the screen. Select the button labeled “Settings” from the menu to advance to your Pinterest account settings page.

Step 3

Scroll down to the bottom of your “Settings” page. One of the last sections will have the heading “Facebook.” The first option in this portion of the window will read “Login with Facebook.” The second option will read “Publish activity to Facebook Timeline.” The button next to this second option will be grey and will read “Off.”

Step 4

Click the “Off” button one time. A new window will pop up in your browser requesting access to your Facebook page. Additionally, you will be prompted to log into the Facebook service if you have not already done so. Provide your Facebook username and password to continue.

Step 5

Click the blue button reading “Add to Facebook.” The application necessary to allow your Pinterest activity to get published in your Facebook timeline will be added to your Facebook account. You may close the small window on screen and return to your Pinterest “Settings” page. The button next to the “Publish activity to Facebook Timeline” option will now be red and will read “On.”

How to Find Your Friends on Pinterest

Finding your friends on the Pinterest photo sharing social network is easy. A tool designed for this specific purpose is built right into your main Pinterest account page. All you have to do is provide the tool with the relevant information to locate the profiles of all your friends. You can then start communicating with them on Pinterest. You can also send photos and other items back and forth between your two accounts whenever you find something that you think a particular friend needs to see.

Step 1

Log in to your Pinterest profile using either your Internet browser or your mobile application on a device like an iPhone or iPad. Use whichever steps you would to log in to your account under regular circumstances.

Step 2

Click the red “pin” icon at the top of the screen. The red “pin” icon essentially functions as a “Settings” button. The drop down menu on screen contains a list of options relating to changes you can make to the way your Pinterest account functions.

Step 3

Click the “Facebook” button from the left column to search your Facebook profile for Pinterest friends. Any “Friend” that you have on Facebook that also has a Pinterest account will appear in the window on screen. Click on the name of a friend to view their Pinterest profile. Note that if you are not currently logged in to your Facebook account you will be prompted to do so at this time.

Step 4

Click the “Gmail” and “Yahoo!” buttons on the left side of the screen to search for friends on Pinterest using your contacts lists from those e-mail providers. Pinterest will use the e-mail addresses in your e-mail contacts lists to search for existing profiles on the service that were created using those specific addresses. Any profiles that are found will be displayed in the window on screen. You will be prompted to log in to your e-mail accounts at this time if necessary before you can continue. Click on the e-mail address or name of one of your friends in the list on screen to view their existing profile.
